An editorial design project: the tactile book

In collaboration with: Politecnico di Torino - Pininfarina Extra - Tactile Vision - Zamorani Editore

The aim of the project is to create an editorial product in keeping with the contents of the DesignAbility exhibition, held at the Pininfarina headquarters in Cambiano (Turin) in September 2008. The exhibition explored products and projects that linked the world of disability to design, too often inexplicably far from each other.

The book is a useful instrument to provide information to visitors at different levels: written in characters suitable for low vision, and overwritten in Braille, it was also conceived as a design object. Starting from a single sheet in A0 format, printed like a poster and superimposed on one side with a silk-screen printing technique, it is an innovative object that is easy to create.

Folded along the appropriate lines - like a magical origami - it can be turned into a small book, which also acts as a tactile map to orientate oneself within the premises of the exhibition.

Project winner of the FIABA 2008 award.
